| ABOUT HEARTSPIRE SCHOOL OF
HAWAIIAN MASSAGE |
| In the Hawaiian
healing arts tradition, lomilomi uses massage with prayer and intention to
facilitate physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Lomilomi massage
helps increase circulation, restore motion, and eliminate or ease physical
as well as emotional pain. By observing, listening, palpating, and
intuiting, lomilomi practitioners strive to touch the human story stored
deep in our clients’ tissues. Lomilomi practitioners also practice
internal clearing so that we can be used as healing channels.
|
|
In HEARTSPIRE lomilomi classes, participants engage on all levels
- heart, mind, body and spirit, for the health and well being of all:
clients, students and teachers. Together we invoke spiritual
guidance, touch with love and palpate with sensitivity while we apply
specific Hawaiian bodywork techniques to
support movement and healing.
By opening our hearts and minds
in the spirit of aloha, we
cultivate a compassionate, supportive, and cooperative class
environment.

The lomilomi we teach draws from ours studies with over a dozen teachers
of lomilomi and Hawaiian spirituality. Our work reflects both Kona
format traditional lomilomi and
Temple
style lomilomi. We feel deep
gratitude and respect for all of our teachers and for all the Hawaiian
healing arts practitioners who have contributed to making lomilomi what
it is today.

We have studied lomilomi since 1990, and began teaching in 1993.
We teach our
Olympia
workshops at our wooded 9 acre home, in a retreat-like setting complete
with meditation trail, view of
Mt.
Rainier, workshop room for
12 students, hot tub and animals to cuddle – dogs, cats, and chickens.
Around potlucks we create an ‘ohana (family) experience of
personal sharing and support.
We welcome students wishing to enrich and deepen their workshop
experience to stay for the evening potluck and even the night at no
extra cost, and to join in sharing our stories, music, poetry, dance,
walks in the woods and other pleasant and bonding activities.
|
|
We support students in their efforts to find as much inner healing as
possible and to develop spiritually sensitive bodywork skills.
We build and nurture
community. We work to create
peace, health, and harmony in our personal and professional lives, and
from there, throughout our world.
