Ka 'Imi Pono Welcome letter to be sent ASAP after students
register:
(We are including this form letter on the website because it gives
potential students in this class a taste of this workshop.)
Aloha
Welina!
Welcome to our Ka ‘Imi Pono 2008 ‘ohana.
Thank you registering and paying in full for
the following class sessions:
Ka ‘Imi
Pono is an inspirational Heartspire class in which we study and use
Hawaiian spiritual traditions - including lomilomi - to develop vital
relationship between self, others, Spirit and Nature.
Our
2008 Ka ‘Imi Pono vision is to:
~~ Give and receive support in opening
ways for Spirit in us to manifest abundantly ~~
~~ Authentically share Hawaiian healing spirituality and bodywork ~~
~~~ Live in harmony with Spirit, self,
others and Nature ~~~
~~ Contribute to peace on earth ~~
We will spend our time together as ‘ohana – family.
We will form a human circle of complete
aloha, a precious configuration in which to share unconditional gifts of
love, understanding, forgiveness, and acceptance.
Our Ka ‘Imi Pono ‘ohana can provide us each
with secure support to face truth and strengthen hope.
From 9 am –1pm we will use aspects of Hawaiian spirituality to develop
our own spiritual lives.
1pm – 3 pm is lunch and leisurely community
time. From 3–7 pm, we will teach lomilomi bodywork. Students may attend
full days or just morning or afternoon sessions, and may attend some or
all of the ten sessions.
Our intention for our
morning sessions is for our Ka ‘Imi Pono ‘ohana to deepen our awareness
of Self being connected to, and One with, every aspect of Spirit, Nature
and humanity.
This is Hawaiian spiritual tradition. We all share ha, the breath of
life. We will nurture our connection to Oneness spanning time and space.
In the Hawaiian creation
story all of life shares a common genealogy arising from Divine
Creation.
Nature, as the elder sibling, feeds mankind;
mankind, as the younger sibling, has kuleana (responsibility) to tend
and care for nature.
We each
carry kuleana to malama (care for) ourselves and also for the Whole.
Do you sometimes feel numb as
our American lifestyle and conflicts between people and governments lead
to horrifying war, torture, global warming, extinction of many plant and
animal species, and indeed perhaps the complete destruction of our
habitat? Being hopelessly overwhelmed and immobilized can happen.
However, the year 2008 is
also an auspicious time with potential for significant spiritual
renewal.
People and governments from all cultures can
strengthen global community by using our modern communication and
transportation tools to help us join our minds, hearts, bodies and
spirits, as well as our finances, in doing business and in living on our
earth together.
The indigenous model of Oneness between
Spirit, People and Nature lights a path for us.
Whether we are ultimately
headed for harmonious, healthy community or for catastrophic
destruction, we can live every moment of our lives in grace and Aloha.
As we live and as we die, we can do so with
love.
We can open to Spirit, we can work hard, we can
seek and face truth, we can remain determined and committed, and we can
maintain our connection to Oneness, to Spirit, to Nature.
In our Ka ‘Imi Pono
spirituality sessions we will support each other in (1) making healthy
changes and developing vision, hope and tools to support marvelous life
on earth and also in (2) looking at how we may be contributing to our
own as well as planetary death and destruction.
We will apply nine Hawaiian values to our
own lives: aloha (love), pono (integrity), mahalo (gratitude), lokahi
(harmony), kuleana (responsibility), malama (caring & tending), ha’aha’a
(humility), ho’omau (endurance), nana I ke kumu (looking to Source).
Each class will include a malama-i-ka-‘aina
(hands on earth care) session.
During the year each
student in our spirituality classes is invited to complete an
independent study project related either to Hawaiian spirituality,
culture or history, or to an ecological issue, and to present the
finished product in class.
You might do a book report, a research
project, interview of a special person, watch and report on a
documentary film, or something else of your choosing.
In our afternoon bodywork classes we will help you master various
lomilomi strokes used to relieve pain and increase ease and range of
motion in yourselves and our clients.
We’ll have fun, and learn many practical
skills.
