HEARTSPIRE  LOMILOMI WORKSHOPS

At Heartspire we all enjoy the warmth and ease so characteristic of aloha and Hawaiian tradition.  Participants learn to work with prayer and intention setting in their lomilomi practice, thus strengthening the healing power of the massage and the sense of purpose.

All courses are interactive.  All of the classes involve direct participation through both hands-on work and facilitated class sharing in addition to presentations and demonstrations by the instructors.  Students are introduced to Hawaiian healing philosophy such as the concepts of  aloha, ho’oponopono - ’right’ living and clearing ‘wrong’ doing,  connecting with ancestors, and the power of words, thoughts and images in manifesting our dreams and hearts’ desires.

All workshops are open to anyone eager to explore lomilomi and his/her own inner world with an open mind and an adventurous heart. They may be taken in any order.

Couples Class

This class is taught by Kim and Jim Hartley and is open to couples, friends, or family members who would like to learn some lomilomi massage skills to share with each other.  In this class you will do a morning and afternoon trade with your partner, working on both sides of the body.  You will learn the flowing ocean wave moves, forearm lomilomi, how to work deep by using your bodyweight and leaning into your partner, and use of prayer and intention in your massage.  You will be able to confidently give an hour full body massage to your partner when you’re done.  We also share a wonderful potluck meal together at lunch time.  Cost $195 per couple - *8 hour CEUs for Washington State Requirements but not NCBTMB certified yet.

Introduction to Heartspire Lomilomi

8 CE class, instructor: Kim Hartley

Kim will lay the foundation of lomilomi through the story and strokes. Open your heart and hands to the prayer and Aloha Spirit of lomilomi massage. Learn practical techniques using hands, forearms and elbows you can incorporate immediately to create healing, increased circulation and improved ROM for your clients. The flow, rhythm, and weight leverage techniques create depth with ease.

Heartspire Lomilomi

24 CE class, instructor: Kim Hartley

Lomilomi is a dance with the body/mind/spirit of the practitioner and the recipient. In this three day workshop you will learn to flow with soft and deep hands/forearms, using your bodyweight to create depth with ease, as you apply these ancient techniques to create a session of bodywork that leaves your client with the feeling of being embraced by the ocean, rocked, stretched, lengthened, and revitalized.  Kim will lay the foundation of the lomilomi strokes through teaching about the metaphysical story of the body, using prayer and intention to align the different aspects of the Father/Mother/Child within.  Kim will share how she has made lomilomi her own, touching on the wisdom and Aloha from all her teachers since 1990.  You will learn a very thorough full body lomilomi massage, inviting your clients to feel what is going on inside and to let feelings stored in the body be freed on multiple levels, releasing pain and restriction in muscles, joints, and organs, and to simply rest at a deeper level.

Heartspire Lomilomi, expanded

On the 4th day we will do a full body review with the intention of aligning our sacred union within to Spirit/Source. We will truly experience a journey through our body into our soul.

Overview of Lomilomi

32 hour class instructor: Barbara Helynn Heard

This class introduces clinical, Temple, and Kahi Loa styles of lomilomi. We explore spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical lomilomi techniques.  We use our prayer, breath and body awareness to allow and encourage Spirit to move through us. We read the book Hawaiian Lomilomi, Big Island Massage by Nancy Kahalewai.   This class is taught in eight four hour sessions within about two months.  Homework is given between classes to further enhance our learning experience.  This class is offered as part of a massage licensing program.  A couple spots are open for massage therapists or for anyone contemplating attending massage school.

HHA Mana Lomi Clinical Lomilomi Level 1
28 CE class, instructor: Barbara Helynn Heard
This class, the first in a progressive series of three classes, teaches the foundational level of Mana Lomi .  Mana Lomi the Hawaiian Healing Academy (HHA) style of lomilomi, uses a clinical, problem solving approach which is based on Hawaiian concepts of working with the body, mind and spirit. These healing methods are deep and powerful, yet gentle, giving immediate and long-term results. HHA teaches that lomilomi symbolically means "to communicate energetically deep within the bones of the individual and with the soul of the person." This class presents clinical procedures of lomilomi, ho'oponopono (realignment), and the history of lomilomi and Hawaiian healing chants. Students who complete this class will be eligible to take Hawaiian Healing Academy advanced lomilomi classes.  Hawaiian Healing Academy: www.manalomi.com

Lomi o ka Pu'uwai ~Circulatory Lomi

24 CE class, instructor: Kim Hartley

In this three day workshop participants learn full body lomilomi massage primarily as taught to Kim by Aunty Margaret Machado.  She is one of the first people who began to openly share lomilomi outside her family in the late 1970's with people from all over the world who had a sincere desire to learn.  She is known throughout the islands as a national treasure.  Kim had the extraordinary privilege of studying with Auntie for one month.

This style of lomilomi requires practitioners to touch with loving hands, forgive ourselves and others, and allow divine healing to flow through both giver and receiver.  This work is known for its deeply healing and circulatory affects on the body, deep compression and range of motion on the joints, and highly beneficial stretching affects on the neck and shoulders.  This style of lomilomi uses very modest draping techniques.
